How to clean a microfiber couch

Cleaning a microfiber couch is pretty easy if you know how. Even if you couch is heavily soiled all over, there are some simple tips and techniques that you can use to bring your microfiber couch back to a near new condition. The following will give some easy tips to give your microfiber couch a good all over clean and have it looking as good as new in no time.

Vacuum the Couch

If you have an upholstery tool for you vacuum cleaner use that, if not a normal vacuum cleaner head and then a crevice tool will still do the job. It is really important that this is done as the first step as it will prevent any dust and debris from getting pushed further into the microfiber material of you lounge, If the cushions are removable, make sure to vacuum not only
underneath them, but the bottom of them as well. After the couch has been vacuumed, use a dry scrubbing brush to loosen any caked on dirt and grime, this will allow your chosen cleaning product to penetrate.

Clean the Couch

the next step is to find a cleaning product that is suitable for your fabric. Always spot test any cleaner in an inconspicuous spot first. There are a wide range of products that you could use. My favourite is fabric stain remover for clothes that you can purchase from most super markets. Spray the most heavily soiled areas first and use a cloth to gently agitate the are to work the stain out. Once the stain has been cleaned, you cam use a towel dampened with water to remove any excess product. Next give the whole couch with the product and gently scrub and then remove the excess. Whilst the couch is still wet, agitate the whole couch with a soft scrubbing brush gently, this will avoid the fabric from stiffening. Next you can use a hairdryer or and iron to dry the couch. I prefer the hairdryer method as there is less risk of burning the couch. There you have it, a quick and easy way to get your microfiber couch looking like new again.
